Our story

Fifty years on the same hills.

Real Darjeeling, grown by people who've done it for fifty years, made worth giving — and worth coming back to.

Most tea brands you'll meet are a few years old and a warehouse deep. We're not. Our family has grown tea on the slopes of Darjeeling for half a century — through the seasons, the monsoons, and the long quiet work of getting a single second flush right.

For most of that time, the best of it went to auction and ended up in someone else's tin, half a world away. Tearoots is us keeping it. Our own gardens, our own leaf, picked at peak season and sealed fresh — sold straight to the cup, here in India and out to the world.

We don't put the garden's name on the label. Partly habit, partly because the tea has never needed it to prove itself. What we'll tell you is everything that matters in the cup: the region, the flush, the season, and exactly how to brew it so it's never bitter.

That's the whole idea.

What we believe.

  • Provenance

    Our own leaf

Every pack starts on our family's slopes — no middlemen, no anonymous lots.

  • Season

    Picked at peak

Second flush comes off when the leaf has deepened. We pick then; not when it's convenient.

  • Freshness

    Sealed for the cup

Packed for taste, not shelf life. Brews bright, brisk, never bitter.

Start with the muscatel.

The second-flush black that put Darjeeling on the map — and the one our family has grown for fifty years.
